Thursday, the Smith County Young Lawyers will sponsor a free showing of the 1992 film, “A Few Good Men” starring Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson.
In this dramatic courtroom thriller Lt. Daniel Kaffee, played by Cruise, is a Navy lawyer who has never seen the inside of the courtroom. Kaffee is set to defend two stubborn Marines who have been accused of murdering a colleague. Their defense is based upon the fact that PFC Santiago, the victim, was given a "CODE RED." Santiago was not cut out for military work, and at Guantanamo Bay they do not tolerate less than success, especially Col. Nathan Jessup, played by Jack Nicholson. This film is rated R and admission is free to the public.
Also, this Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. Liberty Hall will show “The Ten Commandments” in honor of the Easter holiday. Directed in 1956 by Cecil B. DeMille, the film stars Charlton Heston as Moses. To protect the throne, Rameses, played by Yul Brenner, has condemned all newborn Hebrew males to death. One family makes the decision to save their infant son Moses by setting him adrift on the Nile in a reed basket. Baby Moses is saved by the pharaoh's daughter Bithiah, and she claims him as her own. He is brought up in the court of her brother, Pharaoh Seti. Moses gains Seti's favor and the love of the princess, Nefertiri. When his Hebrew heritage is revealed, Moses is cast out of Egypt, and makes his way across the desert where he marries, has a son, and is commanded by God to return to Egypt to free the Hebrews from slavery. Tickets to see “The Ten Commandments” are now on sale at www.LibertyTyler.com for $8 and will be for sale at the door for $10.
