The East Texas Food Bank 2011 Summer Food Service Program has officially begun.

The event began yesterday all across East Texas and will continue into August. East Texas Food Bank Communications Director Kairelyn Davis said, “the program is designed to help children of low-income families and act as a substitute to school-provided lunches.”

The lunches are free and accompanied by fun and festivities at local parks.

Food service program locations in the immediate area include The Hawkins Community Center, the Lindale Early Childhood Center, Addie McFarland Community Center in Mineola, Mineola elementary and primary, and the Wood intermediate school in Wills Point.

Check with each location for exact dates and times.
