The new ETMC Quitman will open for patient care at 8 a.m., Monday, July 15.
Hospital team members will begin the move-in process immediately following the community open house on Sunday, July 14. The emergency department will move during the early morning hours Monday. No disruption in care is expected during the move.
“Everyone on our team is excited about the move to the new facility,” said Warren Robicheaux, administrator of ETMC Quitman. “Many hours of planning have gone into the move, so we expect it to be a seamless process. As always, our focus will be our patients. Whether they are inpatients or visiting our emergency department, we will make the transition as smooth as possible.”
After the new facility opens, demolition will begin on the old facility and adjacent buildings making way for additional parking. To accommodate the demolition, a portion of Parker Street will be closed. The new hospital, including the emergency department, will be accessed via Winnsboro Highway (Highway 37). Patients visiting physicians at the Barber Clinic will still access that facility via Highway 154.
Providers at the ETMC First Physicians clinic -- Dr. Beverly Waddleton, Dr. Annelise Ribeiro, Dr. Rick Martinez and Kimberley Lowry, RN, FNP -- will move to the new hospital facility on Monday, July 22.
“We are looking forward to having our clinic in the hospital,” Robicheaux said. “While the new facilities will be nice for the staff, we believe our patients will benefit most as imaging and lab services will be just steps away.”
Until completion of the demolition and construction of the new parking lot, parking will be limited. Open lots are located at northwest corner of the new facility, across from the emergency department; adjacent to the facility on the southwest corner (handicapped) and in front of the Barber Clinic.
“We ask for the public to have patience with our parking situation as we make this transition,” Robicheaux said. “Hopefully by this fall, demolition of the old hospital will be complete and the new parking area will be available.”
