Tonight, Danny “Buck” Davidson, the Panola County District Attorney in the Bernie Tiede murder case, will speak at Liberty Hall in Tyler before the showing of the 2011 film, “Bernie.”
Tiede was born in Tyler, raised in Kilgore and eventually settled in Carthage, Texas. The movie is based on a true story that occurred in Carthage in November 2006. Local mortician, Tiede (played by Jack Black), pursues a relationship with a wealthy widow (played by Shirley MacLaine). The twist comes when Bernie kills her and then goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she's still alive.
Davidson, played by Matthew McConaughey, will discuss the case and the town’s incredulous reaction.
The film has cameos by many people who experienced the events first hand. Liberty Hall will also have special guest Ms. Kay Baby Epperson who had several appearances in the film.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m.
