Released by the Van Zandt County Extension Office Producers needing to get pesticide recertification credits toward renewing their applicators license can get five (6) CEU’s on Friday, December 21 at the Mabank Fire Station (111 E. Mason). This program is jointly sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Henderson, Kaufman and Van Zandt Counties. The program will begin with registration at 8:00 am and the first speaker will begin at 9:00 am. Topics and speakers include: Terry Shriver - Wildlife Damage Management Specialist- Coyote and Feral Hog Control - What Can You Do? Dr. Mike Merchant - Professor & Extension Entomologist -Common Insects of East Texas & Their Control Dr. Kevin Ong - Associate Professor and Director of Texas Disease Laboratory - Plant Disease Problems Jack LeClair - Range and Pasture Specialist - DuPont -Grassbur and Pasture Weed Control 2013 Dr. Sonja Swiger - Extension Livestock Entomologist -Livestock Pests Glenn Lubke - Branch Manager - NRCS Forney - NRCS Resources 6 continuing education units will be provided towards the recertification of private, commercial and non-commercial applicators license. 2 - Integrated Pest Management 4 – General Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) participants can receive 1 credit for this program.
