Construction work to add a continuous left-turn lane on FM 14 between SCR 328 and SCR 329 near John Soules Foods is scheduled to begin Monday north of Tyler. The $932,000 project is scheduled for completion in early 2014.
Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic. Long traffic delays may be associated with this project and TxDOT recommends using US 271, FM 2015 or US 69 as alternate north-south routes connecting Interstate 20 and Tyler.
Also this week in Smith County, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to make pavement repairs at the intersections of SH 31 and FM 2661 west of Tyler, and SH 31 and FM 315 in Chandler.
A second crew is scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on SH 135 between Troup and Arp.
Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.
