Trinity Mother Frances Health system officials have located a Flight for Life Air Ambulance base at Trinity Mother Frances Winnsboro.
Officials say the new medical helicopter base brings an extended reach to patients of Wood and surrounding counties.
"Trinity Mother Frances Winnsboro has grown to be a regional hub for advanced care," said Janet Coats, CEO Mother Frances Hospital Winnsboro. "The new Flight for Life Base in Winnsboro enables us to extend our reach to patients. We elected to place it here because there is a need."
The Winnsboro based helicopter, EC 130, is partnered with the current TMF Flight for Life Helicopter base in Palestine, meaning all of East Texas will now have the safety and convenience of an emergency helicopter with faster response times. The EC 130 helicopter and its flight and clinical crews will serve a 150-mile radius around Winnsboro.
"These Flight for Life Helicopters are state-of-the-art and operated by the most qualified crew members in our region," said Ray Thompson, Executive Vice President/COO Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and Clinics. "We are excited to expand our emergency air ambulance services to cover all of our East Texas region with the highest care."
The start date of service is expted later this month.
