for Box Car BBQ was a big one as dozens of people came out
for lunch at the brand new barbeque restaurant in Mineola.
Jason, Gary and Kelsey were on hand to sample the beef, pork

Nearly 30 Quitman business owners gather at the KMOO studios
yesterday afternoon for a Chamber of Commerce social
meeting. Visitors got a chance to see KMOO up close and even
peek at a live broadcast during the famous General Store.

The heat did not keep away the
masses from coming out to celebrate the 104th Old Settler's
Reunion in Quitman over the weekend. With great
entertainment under the pavilion each evening and sounds of
laughter from the children on the carnival midway, the Old
Settlers carried on the tradition that has become a Quitman
staple.
Big catfish make
super "Splash"

Lake
Fork is known as a premiere Bass haven., but this weekend it
was the lowly
Catfish that
took center stage. The Big Catfish Splash at Lake Fork drew
more than 700 entries over the weekend. Brian Wells of
Universal City, Texas reeled in this year’s winning catch.
It was 10.64 lb. And of course, during the Catfish Splash,
things are always a little different. Wells caught his fish
not from a boat, but actually standing on a dock. Other top
finishers include Michael Littlejohn of
Duncanville with an 8.62 lb catfish, an
8.53 lb. catch from Tony Johnson of Athens for third place.
Fourth place was taken by Gregg Taylor of Quitman, Texas
with an 8.13lb. catch and fifth place went to Dan Miles of
Irving, Texas with his 7.93 lb. catfish.

Home Expo a great success!

Hundreds of people visited KMOO’s
Home Expo Saturday and a handful of guests went home with
their share of more than $35,000 in prizes. Winners included
Karen Adair, Diana Pankey, Frieddie Swoape, Pat McCollum,
Petra Jones, Michael Turner, and Diane Smith. The
MooCrew was on hand as well as more than 2 dozen vendors
with home related products.
Bloomin' all around Grand Saline

The Grand Saline Bloomin’
Festival was a great success. Hundreds of people turned out
for the event which featured a guest appearance by Renowned
Texas Gardening Expert Neil Sperry. The annual event also
featured entertainment and children’s activities.
Scott's Pharmacy Holiday Open House

Scott's Pharmacy opened its doors for the annual holiday
open house on Monday, November 28. KMOO was on hand for all
the festivities. The day was a great success and hundreds of
holiday shoppers enjoyed Santa, refreshments and big
discounts.

Spooktacular in Van Zandt County
Van Zandt County, 10/22 -
Pets, pets and more pets were on hand for Van Zandt Animal
Care Center and Pet Resort's second annual Spooktacular
Saturday. KMOO helped Dr. Wingo and all the doctors and
staff celebrate the clinic's customers and clients. Two dogs
dressed in scrubs won first place in the pet costume
contest. Citizens League for the Welfare of Animals was on
hand to adopt out several dogs and cats.

10/24 - The Medicine
Chest celebrated its grand opening Friday and Saturday. The
Mineola chamber of Commerce also was on hand for the
company's ribbon cutting ceremony. For more photos,

Cruising down Main Street in Winnsboro
Winnsboro,
9/3 - Hundreds of
people turned out on Saturday to see more than 100 classic
and antique cars in downtown Winnsboro. The First Annual
Classic Car Cruise-In was a great success according to Main
Street Director Denise Miranda. Winnsboro Main Street
organized the event as an annual fundraiser for the downtown
district. Cars from as far away as Illinois and Kansas
showed up for the event. KMOO was on hand from 9 a.m. to 12
noon, broadcasting live and giving away free t-shirts and
hats.

Mineola Eyecare
Mineola, 8/22 -
Mineola turned out for Mineola Eyecare's customer
appreciation day this weekend. The event treated hundreds of
customers to free food and fun as Mineola Eyecare said
"Thank you," to all its customers. It was also a chance for
customers to meet Mineola's newest eye doctor, J. Mark
Hooten. Dr. Hooten recently joined the staff as Mineola
Eyecare.

Winnsboro Expo a success
Winnsboro,
8/22 - Dozens of area
businesses showed off their products and services during
this weekend's business expo at the Winnsboro City
Auditorium. Hundreds of visitors attended the event which
included a free hamburger lunch. KMOO was on hand to hand
out free goodies and offer special advertising opportunities
to business clients.

Mineola's VFD Rodeo a big success
Mineola,
7/9 8:00 p.m. - Hundreds of spectators turned out
Saturday evening the last of two nights of rodeo action
during the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department's annual rodeo
fund raiser. The stands were near capacity as cowboys and
cowgirls
competed in riding, roping and barrel racing events. Fire
Chief David Stevenson said even though the ticket sales were
lowered than last year, he was pleased with the attendance
numbers. Lauren O'Donnell, senior at Alba-Golden Schools was
named this year's rodeo Queen.

The Grand Saline Salt Festival
and KMOO

Saline, 6/4, 2:00 p.m. - KMOO spent Saturday
afternoon in Grand Saline celebrating the 31st Annual Salt
Festival. The day was the culmination of a week-long
schedule of events ranging from Fiesta Night to Gospel Night
and topped off with a performance from country legend Janie
Fricke.
