May 15 - 17• Championship Rodeo

The Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce is announcing their 21st Annual I-20 Team Real Estate Championship Rodeo.  Rodeo events will begin each night at 7:30 PM at the Lindale Rodeo Arena located on Hwy. 16 West, 3-blocks from downtown. Highlighting Thursday's event is Casey Rivers beginning at 7 PM.  Advanced tickets are on sale now.  Prices are $7 for Thursday and $6 for Friday and Saturday shows.  Advanced tickets for Children are free.  Advanced tickets can be purchased at the Chamber and at area local merchants.  Please note, advance ticket sales will end at 6 PM each evening.  Adult tickets purchased at the gate are $10 for Thursday and $8 for Friday and Saturday.  Children's tickets purchased at the gate are $7 for Thursday and $5 for Friday and Saturday.  For additional information call the Chamber at 903.882.7181 or visit www.lindalechamber.com.

Alba-Golden ISD Horticulture Department is having their end-of-year plant sale 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM.  Hanging Baskets $6.  Flats $9.

May 17• Fund Raiser

The Church of the Lakes invites you to join in on the singing, games and to fellowship.  Singing starts at 2 PM; 4:30 PM hamburgers (for donations).  They are selling 52 cedar trees to raise money for the Fellowship Hall.  For information call Bro. May 17• Annual Decoration Day at Silver Lake Cemetery

If you have family and/or friends buried in the cemetery you are encouraged to attend.  The business meeting of the cemetery association will begin at 11 AM in the fellowship hall of The Silver Lake Baptist Church, followed by a covered dish.  The cemetery is located on US Hwy. 80 between Grand Saline and Mineola.  If you are unable to attend the meeting but wish to contribute to the maintenance fund, mail your check to: The Silver Lake Cemetery Association, Inc., Donna Hooks, Treasurer, 359 FM 2422, Mineola, Texas  75773.

May 18• Open House

Yantis ISD is celebrating the completion of the new Yantis Middle School Building and the renovations of the "old gym 1-4 PM.  Refreshments will be served in the gym.  Afterward, you are welcome to tour the new building and meet teachers and staff.

May 24 - June 1 • Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shoot-Out

The Mineola Marine Corp Detachment #1278 is sponsoring this event at the Mineola Country Club, Mineola, Texas.  There will be prizes during qualification week and runner up prizes on Sunday.  The Sunday Million Dollar Shoot-Out will be on hole #9 at 1300 hours (1:00 PM) and will be recorded on film.  Proceeds from the contest will go to fund the local 2008 Toy's for Tots Campaign.  The profits from food and drink concessions will be donated to the Detachment Benevolence Fund, Mineola Detachment #1278, Marine Corps League.  Tickets: $1.00 each; 6/$5.00 or 12/$10.00.  For additional information contact Paul Gates at 903.569.3601 or 903.312.2811; or contact Phil Leeman at 903.569.7767 or 903.569.3823 

May 24 • Fish Fry

Westside Volunteer Fire Department is having their semi-annual fish fry 11 AM - 5 PM (or we run out of food).  Located FM 315, 7-miles south of Chandler.  Signs will be posted.  Dine-in or carry-out.  $8/adults; $5/children.  Additional donations are always welcome. 

May 24 • Feedlot Sorting Saddle Series 2008

Presented by Bull Creek Cowboy Church.  Open and Novice Class --- 5 ride limit. $25 a ride, $50 a team.  Saddles to High-Point Rider of the Series in Open and Novice Classes.  Books open @ 1 PM.  Open Class starts @ 2 PM.  Concession stand on site.  For early entries or additional information call BCCC @ 903.662.9577 or 903.268.1527.  Arena is located 9591 Hwy. 69, Lone Oak. May 26 • The Horse Whisperer

Rim Rock Cowboy Church is hosting Wild Horse Ministries with Paul Daily at 1 PM.  BBQ lunch will be at 11 AM.  The Horse Whisperer will work with a 2-year old AQHA registered colt. June 14 •  8th Annual Ray Davidson Memorial Golf Tournament

American Legion Post 12 is hosting this 4-person scramble benefiting Rose Capital East Challenger Baseball (a division of Little League Baseball serving physically challenged youth).  Scramble is open to the public; men and women golfers welcome. Your opportunity to become a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Wood  County begins on June 23rd with a training program that will be held at the the CPS Office in Quitman from 5:30-8:30 each evening.  A light meal will be provided. August 30 •  Classic Car Cruise-In
