Smith County Pct 5 Constable Kenneth Bibby says his office has been conducting late night patrols in an attempt to help combat theft and vandalism in rural areas.
Late Tuesday night, Deputy Hawley attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle that was speeding on CR452 and Old Mineola Hwy. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit began with speeds of 100mph. After several miles, the subject turned at a residence and was apprehended before he could escape. The driver, Stetson Nelson was arrested for evading arrest.
Constable Bibby says be a nosey neighbor. If something looks out of place in your neighborhood then make a note of the date and time, write the license plate number down, color and style of the vehicle, and contact his office.
