Lindale High School Senior Cassandra Tema has been named the recipient of the R.J. Collins State Farm Insurance “Good Neighbor Award.”
Tema received a framed certificate, a gift card to Doc’s Pizza in Lindale and a travel safety kit from Collins. The R.J. Collins State Farm Insurance Good Neighbor Award is presented once a month during the school year to a student who represents the core values of Lindale High School: accountability, commitment, discipline, honesty, integrity, ownership, respect and responsibility. Students are nominated for the award by Lindale High School counselors and administrators.
Tema will attend Trinity Valley Community College in the fall. She received a cheerleading scholarship from the junior college. She plans to major in kinesiology with the goal of becoming a physical therapist or a fitness trainer.
Her school activities include participation in the Lindale High School band. Other activities include competitive cheerleading and missionary work through her church, Grace Community Church. In her travels as a missionary, Tema has visited Africa, Nicaragua and helped with the clean-up efforts in Joplin, Missouri after a tornado devastated the community.
“It means a great deal to me to be presented with this award,” Tema said. “It means a lot to know that all of the principals and counselors see who I really am: an honest student who really works hard to accomplish success.”
