A Memorial Service for Jerry Edwards was held Tuesday morning in Mineola.
Edwards served as the long time Executive Director of the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center in Winnsboro and was Mayor of Quitman at the time of his death Friday night.
"He was committed to serving his community, even in what he knew were likely his last days," said Mike Hall.
Mayor Edwards died after a long battle with cancer.
The service was held at Sand Springs Baptist Church off Hwy 69. Mayor Edwards obituary and connection for sympathies may be found at http://bit.ly/VFUGjM.
