An afternoon fire destroyed 16 apartments Sunday at the Quail Ridge Apartments in Sulphur Springs.

Fire officials say another four apartments were heavily damaged by smoke and water. Two firefighters were injured while battling the blaze, and 17 families were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
