The driver of an ice cream truck was hospitalized yesterday afternoon after the truck ran into the back of a Big Sandy school bus.

The accident occurred on HWY 80 between Big Sandy and Gladewater near Pear Road around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say the ice cream truck was making a left turn when it ran into the back of the school bus. The bus suffered extensive damage in the wreck. The ice cream truck driver was transported to a Longview Hospital.

The bus driver and the lone student on the bus did not suffer serious injuries.
