A ruling that came down today in the 12th District Court of Appeals in Tyler will keep the only defendant still incarcerated in the 2005 Mineola sex ring scandal behind bars.
The ruling determined that Dennis Boyd Pittman is not entitled to a new trial.
Six of the defendants involved in the incidents pleaded guilty to charges of injury to a child, a third-degree felony, in May of last year, and were sentenced to the time they had already served.
Pittman's case was not included with those because he had a case pending before the 12th Court of Appeals. Pittman is expected to file a petition for discretionary review. .
