It appeared the plane may have clipped the top of nearby trees before crashing in a clearing at the end of the runway. The pilot was reportedly unconscious for some time, although it is not yet known exactly how long he was out. However, he eventually regained consciousness and dialed 9-1-1 himself. The pilot was taken from the scene by helicopter to a Tyler hospital. He reportedly suffered broken bones and several cuts but none of his injuries appeared life threatening.
